This is my Arts Award work - planning stage (Unit 1 A - Identify and plan an arts challenge)

What I am interested in:
I am interested in all different kinds of art forms.  I enjoy portraits and landscapes in different mediums.

What I already do well:
I feel quite confident in painting with acrylics and my sketching skills, but of course I always want to improve.

My Challenge:
My aim in this Arts Challenge is to learn how to do portraits and different faces in different mediums. I would like to try out pastels, watercolours, ink drawing, digital art and perhaps clay modelling...but I am open to different ideas!

Why have I chosen this challenge?:
I am choosing to do portraits because I really enjoy drawing and painting people.  Particularly portraying different emotions in aspects of the picture so that I can give an impression of who I am drawing or painting.

What will the outcome be?
The outcome I would like to achieve is to learn to properly do facial proportions and to produce a finished piece or even many pieces!

How will I show my progress?
I plan to show may progress here on this blog.

Who or what will I need to help me?

  • I am planning to use the internet (youtube, etc.) for tips and to ask for help and feedback from my Arts Award mentor and my Art Teacher.
  • My teacher has lots of supplies, and we have paints, pencils, paper and canvasses at home.  I will arrange regular meetings with my mentor and I also go to art lessons on a Friday.
  • I am going to ask for feedback from my art teacher and from friends and acquaintances.

Unit 2 Arts Leadership - Silver Arts Award Unit 2 Part C: effective arts leadership

My project:  Teaching a small group of people how to draw a realistic human eye using pencils. I began with an introduction to what I will be teaching.   I asked the participants questions about the topic - what they knew about the human eye, so I could better understand the participants' abilities, and work off that.  This was part of my improving communication skills as I needed to be clear about the process of drawing an eye so that they could follow my instructions. I asked the participants to draw the subject, before I had taught them anything, so I can even better understand their skills, and help them based on their ability. After I asked the participants to try out drawing, I began my explanation of how I draw an eye.  My aim was to pass on the skill that I had previously learned and to encourage their own creativity by encouraging each participant individually to build on their own skills and not just cop...
